Reverse osmosis water purifier
Almeco

Reverse osmosis is a water treatment technique that allows to produce large quantities of demin water in a constant and reliable manner.
How does reverse osmosis work?

A reverse osmosis installation produces pressure on an aqueous solution, which is in contact with a semipermeable membrane. This pressure is larger than and opposite to the osmotic pressure. Because of this pressure, water permeates through the membrane (cfr. diagram). The main part of the solution's substances are stopped by the semipermeable membrane.

Reverse osmosis is a physical process requiring no chemical products. Thanks to the modern membranes up to 99.6% of the dissolved substances is eliminated without regular interruptions for cleaning or maintenance.

The permeate contains almost no more dissolved substances. Without a reverse osmosis installation, these particles can lead to a production interruption (or in any case to a less efficient production).

A reverse osmosis appliance eliminates almost all:

* Mineral salts
* Heavy metals
* Bacteria, viruses and pyrogenic
