MiCOM Alstom P547s is based on a simple protection principle and scheme which enables fast fault clearance times. Interfacing with the Power Line Carrier equipment through the power line eliminates the need of external signalling channel for end-to-end scheme communication. Including VT inputs in long line applications enhances protection stability and sensitivity. It is also used in single and three pole tripping applications. Including voltage inputs enables distance protection, fault location and enhances other P547 functions. It also ensures unit protection, subcycle distance and directional earth fault (DEF). It is also used in two and three-terminal lines, and lines with transformer tee-off feeds.
The device ensures superior selective unit protection and cost effective alternative to current differential. The signalling medium is the power line itself and provides an access to maintenance and control of the utility without any external communications.
is fully within the maintenance and operational control of the utility, no external communications dependence and also offers advanced charging current compensation and angle-shifting.
