ALV-Single Photon Detector Products based on photomultiplier tubes are perfectly suited for the use in SLS&DLS and DWS experiements. Generally, single photomultipliers ensure optimum performance in all such experiments that can be performed with a low to medium quantum efficiency detector, thus are not severly “photon limited”, and do not require the accumulation of correlation function information in the sub-µs lag time regime. If sub-µs lag tim eregime shall be accessed, Use cross correlation or “pseudo” cross correlation detectors instead. In detail, all photomultiplier based ALV-Single Photon Detectors offer the following common characteristics :
Light-In, Pulse-Out Techology, besides attaching the light input and the power / signal cable, no user adjustments are required
Light input for fiber optics cable
DC-coupled preamplifier / discriminator, high gain and bandwidth
High pulse pair resolution
Wide range photocathode from blue wavelength to red wavelength
Low dark counts, typ. below 250 cps, low afterpulsing
Very low thermal drift, not susceptible to environmental temperature changes
Overload protection (ALV/SO-SIPD-II)
