Smart Card Connectors are integral components of a smart card reader or terminal, and provide electrical contact to the smartcard's pads. The connector is not a standalone peripheral device. An additional interface circuit is necessary to be able to read and write to the smartcard whether a smart card is a memory only or a microprocessor card.
