The cell, built to CE standards, performs surface finishing operations completely automatically apart from loading and unloading of the workpiece.
The cell comprises two stations co-ordinated between them on a total of 6 axes.
Tool station: : movements on two cartesian axes in a vertical plane (axes 1 and 3) and one rotating axis (axis 6) onto which the entire tool unit is mounted.
The robot performs the polishing / finishing operation by rotating a brush commanded by an inverter motor.
The brush is oriented through axis 6 along the direction of finish.
The brush is mounted on a self-compensating controller which maintains constant pressure on the piece at the programmed value.
As the brush diameter diminishes due to wear, the system mautomatically adjusts both the pressure and the position of the brush against the workpiece. .
A twin station machine tool holder may be mounted with two different types of brushes, e.g. one for removal of weld flash on corners and one for satinised finish.
