The k-Scan system is based on a highly stabilised and compensated wide bandwidth optical source coupled to an agile MEMS tunable optical filter. The filter response is customised and controlled by a dedicated digital signal processing system, (which runs in a PC) which also provides for the capture and interpretation of the sensor data. LabVIEW routines are provided for system setup and data capture and display, which can easily be customised for specific applications. The instrument, which is provided with an external DC power supply, is housed in a 3U 19" rack chassis, which can be mounted in a 19" rack frame or instrument case.
