The CNC cutting systems are special trolley presses and their moves are automatically executed by a control PC. The current die is loaded on a plate connected to the low surface of the main trolley. Trolley translation, head rotation and material feeding are performed by the machine control software, beside the cutting function. DIGI-CUT software allows to introduce the geometrical data of the blade in the computer. These data describe the die cutting edge starting from the physical tool mounted on the plate. The die is in fact fixed on the trolley plate with the cutting edge turned upward. The same plate is put on a special digitizing table equipped with a special digital pen. The pen is electrically connected to an encoder which detects the X, Y position of the pen tip. The operator should only follow the bladed edge of the tool with the pen tip until its whole perimeter is detected. In this way it is possible to easily introduce every die perimeter in the PC, even the more complex ones. By using this perimeter the ATOM nesting software can calculate the best yield of the tool on a given material size minimizing its consumption. This software can be supplied to any kind of CNC cutting press of ATOM range
