The Extra-Nitrification process develops nitrifying bacteria in a special reactor outside of the oxidation tank. Appropriate amounts of nutrients and ammonia substrate, in the absence of organic carbon, favours the growth of nitrifying bacteria. The best way of dosing nitrifying bacteria in the oxidation tank is then determined, depending on the requirements of the application.
Austep, together with Avecom, suggests a solution, that is able to solve stabily the nitrification problem with very low impact on the existing plant: the Extra-nitrification process.
