The hearth of the anaerobic treatment is the use of bacteria able to degrade the organic substance without oxygen consumption and producing CO2 and CH4 (biogas), without problems related to oxygen transfer, sedimentation and biological sludge production.
Austep applies the UASB (Up-flow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket) technology, based on the permanence of the bacteria into the reactor thanks to the granulation of the biomass.
UASB plants are compact and modular, operating with high organic loads and with high treatment efficiency.
