Baublys Control Laser LaserFinish has been developed especially to enable the use of laser for matting and texturing medal coining dies. Exact positioning of the die is effected with the aid of a video camera system. Special lighting-engineering techniques guarantee even recognition of high-polished dies. Highly efficient software programs enable construction or search of the relief contours required for laser finishing as well as assignation of an extensive variety of parameters.

The first step consists of automatic calculation of the coining die relief by means of Z values. For this task the program needs 3D data which could be produced by - programs, for instance. Contours can be defined manually, too, as per individual selection. Furthermore it is possible to assign defined effects to the contours constructed, such as fine or rough matting, lines or textures. Finally these data are transmitted to the laser marking machine via network connection.

The second step comprises exact positioning of the coining die with the aid of a video camera system, which ensures that calculated or constructed contours concur with the actual coining die contours in shape and positioning. When contours have been aligned correctly the die is positioned underneath the laser marking head automatically and processed according to the parameters defined within very short time.
