Since 1975, Bertin Technologies has been designing and producing fluorescent optical barcode readers for integration into sorting machines used by La Poste, the French mail service. With its first CODIF in 1998 (Capteur Optique D'Indexations Fluorescent = Fluorescent Indexation Optical Sensor) followed by CODIF NG in 2003, Bertin Technologies has already supplied over 1000 of these readers.



This equipment is capable of reading fluorescent codes printed on envelopes at a rate of more than 10m per second in sorting centres. The environment in which they operate is somewhat harsh, with high levels of abrasive dust.
