The ability to take accurate measurements of vibration emissions and immissions is the basis of a vibration-avoidance program in accordance with legal regulations. DIN 4150 (German Institute of Norming) provides guidelines for evaluating vibrations in a frequency range of between 1 and 80 Hz in buildings in which people are present. The guidelines described in this norm can be used to judge periodic and non-periodic vibrations. The purpose of the norm is to provide for vibration protection within the framework of immission protection. Requirements and reference values are named that, when adhered to, will prevent people from being disturbed in their apartments and similarly-used interior spaces.
