This type of filter is particularly beneficial where large throughput quantities occur, as compared to a gravitation band filter it is able to cope with 3 or 4 times the volume with the same filtration surface and minimal use of filtration media
The soiled cooling lubricant flows from the machine tool into the dirt accumulation section of the filter. A vacuum pump suctions the cooling lubricant through the filtration medium into a clean liquid chamber, causing the dirt particles to be trapped in the filtration medium. The sludge cake forming on the filter produces an increasing vacuum in the clean liquid chamber. When a pre-set value is reached, a contact pressure gauge triggers the regeneration process. The sludge cake is discharged without interruption of the coolant lubrication flow. At the same time, new filter medium is drawn in.
