Designed to bear a purely axial load (a load that is at 90 degrees to the shaft it is mounted to), these bearings are most suited to applications that have a steady rotation rather than a high speed spin. The loads these bearings can take are dependent on the crush load of the ball and whether the part will be used with or without a washer.
