All New Focus ≥3 GHz photodetectors and photoreceivers are individually crafted. We start with a photodiode that we bond into a specially-designed microwave housing for the highest possible performance, then actively align and bond an angle-polished fiber to the photodetector. At each step, we check that the frequency response of the photodetector hasn't been affected. The final product is packaged with the battery and bias-monitor circuit board, and tested with our heterodyne-frequency test bed.
