Brüel & Kjær type 4384 is a piezoelectric, DeltaShear®, Unigain® accelerometer featuring a top connector. The device is useful for general purposes, testing and analysis of vibration, high sensitivity, and high-frequency measurement.
For output connection, the piezoelectric accelerometer has a 10 32 UNF receptacle, which uses a 10 32 UNF threaded steel stud for mounting on the object. The device can also be used as a source of charge. It uses charge per unit acceleration (pC/g) for expressing sensitivity.
Three piezoelectric elements and three masses are used in the DeltaShear design. These are set in a triangular configuration in the vicinity of the triangular centre post. A high degree of linearity is provided by the ring prestressing the piezoelectric elements.
The collection of charge takes place between the titanium housing and the clamping ring. PZ 23 lead zirconate titanate element is used as the piezoelectric element.
