Photomultiplier PSU
A DC to DC converter module uses the main system power supply to derive a stabilised high-voltage output for powering a photomultiplier.Together with either of our input or PMT analogue input modules, this module provides all that is required for connecting a photomultiplier to the system.
This module provides the high voltage power supply for a photomultiplier tube. It can provide voltages of up to 1500V, although operating voltages in the 500-1,000V range are usually all that are required. A meter to display this voltage is included. The output current is limited to about 2mA in order to reduce the risk of damage to the photomultiplier in the event that it is exposed to significant light levels while in active operation. It obtains its power source directly from the system backplane, so no external supply connection is required. Output to the photomultiplier is via the standard coaxial HV connector that is normally used for this application, and an appropriate cable is included.
