The vacuum shot peening process performed with glass microspheres is currently considered the best treatment to prepare a surface for a subsequent protective coating treatment.
This process produces chemically and physically clean surfaces and also improves the resistance of mechanical components to metal fatigue resulting from continuous cycles.
The treatment actually "hammers" the superficial layer of molecules and relieves tensions. This thin layer of compressed molecules counteracts inner tensions. Shot peening performed with glass micro-spheres removes any surface tensions, cleans and seals cracks and microscopic slots, as well as any dents caused by corrosion and oxidation traces invisible to the naked eye. Shot peening performed with glass micro-spheres does not alter the outer dimensions of the parts under treatment.
With these machines it is also possible to use corundum, ceramic and metal grains.
