The MVD/24 plate provides the convenience and handling ease of a standard plastic culture plate without the use of siliconized and greased cover- slips required by the hanging drop method. Each vapor diffusion chamber has a plastic post in the center of the well to hold the protein drops. The cup has been designed to provide maximum surface for free diffusion during equilibration. The reservoir solution is held within the narrow moat surrounding the support post. This configuration is very stable and prevents splashing whenever the plates are transported. The plates are sealed with a special clear tape that is supplied. This provides for the rapid sealing of all chambers simultaneously. The sheet can be cut from an individual chamber to remove a crystal without disturbing the other walls.
