The medium butadiene cures permanently elasticly. This means high expenditure for cleaning in case of sealing problems.
For example, cleaning has to occur with water under 400 bar pressure. Typical agitator diameters of the applications described are 120 mm (resp. 4 ¾") and 150 mm (resp. 6").
Besides the usual criteria which make very high service life desirable, a service life of more than 3 years is required because of the size of the plants and the resulting cost-intensive handling.
