Samarium Cobaltmagnet (SmCo magnet): SmCo magnet is rare earth magnet, has been available since the early 1970's. SmCo magnets are manufactured with sintering or compression bonding, most customers require sintered SmCo magnet. They are anisotropic and can only be magnetized in the direction of orientation. In general, magnetizing fields of approximately 30 to 45KOe are required to saturate SmCo magnets. SmCo magnet possess very high magnetic properties, excellent thermal stability, and remarkable resistance and against corrosion and oxidation. These characteristics make SmCo magnets ideal for applications requiring a resistance to wide-ranging temperatures and environments.

SmCo magnet is the second generation of rare earth permanent magnet, we have 1:5 type (SmCo5) and 2:17-type (Sm2Co17). Its main characteristic is the high magnetic properties and working temperature. The maximum working temperature is up to 250-350 °C.

Comparing with the NdFeB magnet, SmCo magnet is more suitable for working in high temperature, SmCo magnet is very suitable for manufacture of a variety of high-performance permanent magnet motor and the products for complex applications. In addition, SmCo magnets is very anti-corrosion, generally, its surface does not require electroplating treatment.

SmCo magnets, because of the low reserves of samarium on Earth, their prices are very expensive.
