Miniature inductive proximity switch
The Swiss sensor manufacturer Contrinex, specialized in long operating distance and miniature devices, now offers a large selection of the world's smallest, fully self-contained inductive and photoelectric proximity detectors.
With housing diameters of just 3 mm up to M5, plus cuboid 5 x 5 x 25 mm formats, the sensors have electrical characteristics equivalent to larger types. In addition, they also contain all the usual built-in protection functions, such as short-circuit, voltage-reversal and overload protection, and feature high levels of EMC.
Despite their small dimensions, the inductive models offer operating distances of 0.6 to 1.5 mm. Mechanically robust, with stainless-steel housings and full potting, these devices are highly suitable for rugged applications.
The photoelectric models are available with housing diameters of 4 mm and M5, as diffuse and through-beam executions, and have operating distances from 10 to 250 mm.
These tiny sensors are ideally suited for applications where space is limited. They require no separate professional amplifiers, and are thus easier to install and considerably cheaper than equivalent fibre-optic solutions.
