Flat panel monitors are also significantly more energy efficient than bulky CRTs, consuming 50 percent less power, on average. For example, a typical 17” CRT consumes between 80 and 100 watts, while a 15” LCD monitor has the same visible display area, yet consumes only 35 to 36 watts.
