The versatile product can be designed at a variety of wavelengths and a variety of fiber types. The lensed fiber can be purchased with options that include ferrules, metallization, connectorization.

OptiFocus Lensed Fiber is a flexible lensing technology, designed to enable optical device miniaturization, high coupling efficiency, packaging and alignment simplification and cost reduction. The lens is thermally formed on optical fiber using a proprietary Corning process that delivers unequaled precision and consistency.

Corning’s telecommunications customers are beginning to rely on OptiFocus lensed fiber to efficiently couple transmission signals between optical fiber and communications devices, such as MEMs, DWDMs, switches, transmitters and other active and passive devices. Others have found ways of utilizing OptiFocus to improve biochemical, motion and heat sensor equipment.
