Inertial measurement unit

An Inertial System is a sensor package that measures the inertial forces generated by the movement of an object. The most frequent applications for an inertial system are navigation, attitude measurement and platform stabilization. Most inertial systems measure accelerations and rotations about the three primary axes X, Y, and Z.

Crossbow offers a wide range of inertial products based on MEMS and FOG (Fiber Optic Gyro) technologies. Performance, reliability and ease of use are primary design features. All of Crossbow’s inertial systems are designed to operate without the need for external aiding. However, some of Crossbow’s inertial products do accept aiding signals such as GPS or Air Data to offer an even higher level of performance when the aiding signals are available.
