The extended back boss type cutter is designed to avoid the problems associated with obstructions on the work piece preventing full working movement.
This type of tool has the advantage that the clamping nut does not project below the cutting face. This is necessary in the case where interference by web flange or fixture on the workpiece would prevent the use of a disc cutter.
