Description
A free pallet line consists of a series of automatic, semi-automatic or manual stations linked by a chain conveyor moving piece- carrying pallets from a station to another. At each station pallets are stopped and centred by a specific assembly unit. Every station may have one or more pneumatic, electric and cartesian manipulators and scara or man-like robots to perform any type of handling across the assembly process. Handling components are automatically fed into the automated stations for them to be fully autonomous.
Should the handling process be unsuitable for automation (i.e. handling aggregate pieces or welt components) the operator will perform it directly at the line. Process steps with high cycle time will require multiple workstations to offset production capacity across the line. To complete the assembly cycle dedicated workstations are fitted to perform operation tests, equipped with tools to meet customer requirements.
