chromium-plating galvanic frame
The chromium plating is a technique that permits to cover a metal manufactured product with chromium thanks to an electrolytic process : especially used in the furniture sector, it consists in the immersion of the product that you need to chrome in some plating baths.
For the galvanic chromium plating we usually use plating baths made of chromium trioxide (CrO3) and sulphuric acid (H2SO4) in varying proportions and with different additions, depending on the plating you wish.
The galvanic baths used for the chromium plating can be divided into two categories:
Decorative chromium plating, aimed to improve the aesthetic thanks to a thin chromium coat.
Hard chromium plating, when the aesthetic is less important than other qualities such as the resistance to abrasion, corrosion and temperatures.
After the galvanic treatment, the products are washed with cold water and they are dipped into warm water to dry them.
