The standard type of furnace for annealing larger quantities of copper tube coils and straight lengths of tube or rod made of copper is the roller-hearth furnace with vacuum lock (EBNER built the first roller-hearth furnace in the world to be fitted with a vacuum lock back in 1958). The anneal is carried out in process atmosphere.
