EFM200 is a general fingerprint identification module. Its function includes fingerprint image acquisition, enrollment, and identification (both 1:N and 1:1). It is composed of high performance DSP, true skin fingerprint sensor (slide type) based on the principle of radio frequency (FR), and high performance fingerprint identification algorithm software. The product has two types: EFM200U (fingerprint sensor on main board) and EFM200S (fingerprint sensor separated from main board).
True skin fingerprint sensor is a special type of sensor, which can sense inner layer of skin (alive skin) instead of top layer of skin (dead skin). The main advantage of the product with true skin fingerprint sensor lies in the high capability to recognize fingerprints under various conditions. Not only it has high recognition rate (very low False Rejection Rate: FRR) for ideal fingerprints but also it keeps high recognition rate for fingerprints from non-ideal fingers, such as dry fingers, light textured fingers, abraded fingers, rough fingers, old people's fingers, fingers with oil, dust, clay and ink, etc. Unlike other products with sensor which detects top skin, EFM200 is sensible only to alive human skin so that it prevents fake fingerprint from artificial material.
