The ambient air given off by any compresser always contains water vapour. This depends on the ambient temperature and the relative humidity. When air is compressed, the volume decreases proportionally. This results in condensate formation. Condensate causes corrosion in compressed air pipe line, increases tool wear, faults in air controls, delayed response time, expensive down time, etc. Compressed air driers are used to separate the condensate and contaminants.
