Damped oscillatory waves are phenomena associated with the opening and closing of High Voltage (HV) busbars in power transmission stations. The physical environment influences the fundamental oscillation frequency and repetition of the impulses. Repetition frequencies are dependant on the power frequency and distance between contacts. For gas insulated stations this could be up to 5kHz.
The new IEC61000-4-18 standard introduces additional fast damped oscillatory waves at frequencies of 3MHz, 10MHz and 30MHz. These are for testing of signalling and control equipment installed in Gas Insulated Substations (GIS) where the transients occur in metallic enclosures containing SF6 gas.
MIG-OS-OM-EXT has been designed to add fast oscillatory wave capability to existing EMC Partner generators.
MIG-OS-OS1 and MIG0603OSI generators deliver 100kHz and 1MHz slow damped oscillatory waves that were previously included in the IEC61000-4-12 standard.
As the application is for power distribution stations, the equipment to be tested is generally connected to 3-Phase power lines. CDN3000-06-25 (manual) and CDN3000A-06-25 (automatic) enable coupling of both fast and slow oscillatory waves.
