  • inductive proximity sensor strip 500 - 1 200 mm | EKI series EMG Elektro Mechanik
The EKI inductive strip edge position detection system is used for high-precision strip edge guiding on uncoilers, steering rolls and on coilers without a mechanical link, as well as for strip edge tracking and/or shielding. In the case of strip centre guiding, sensing of the strip width is possible as an optional extra. It is totally unsusceptible to dirt and fumes, and the system's measuring accuracy is ± 1 mm.

The high-precision EKI system with an edge sensing accuracy better than ± 1 mm is mainly used in strip edge guidance systems on coilers. The compact measuring frame made from anodised extruded aluminium sections is provided with inductive sensors which are moved by an electric motor at one strip edge. In the lateral part, the two sensors arranged below and above the strip are mechanically coupled by means of a synchronising shaft, and they follow the strip edge in a rigid position control loop. An integral position transducer continuously monitors the positions. Based on the captured position and the sensor covering, the strip edge position is calculated. The evaluation and drive electronics including the digital strip controller are installed in a separate housing.
