Simultaneous machining and cutting production line for aluminum profiles
Pilota Emmegi Group

The Pilota production line is able to fabricate a window/door frame from an extruded aluminium bar in a fully automatic cycle.
After loading the feeder of the QUADRA machining centre with the number and type of profiles indicated by the machine software, the production line cycle is started, then it continues without any operator attendance. A robot located close to the unloading magazine has the task of picking up the finished and cut parts, cleaning them from swarf, then sorting them so that the four profiles making up a complete frame are deposited in the drawer of the MODULA vertical storage system. Purpose of this sorting operation is to optimize the unmachined bars in order to minimize profile wastage. Next a second robot proceeds to the assembly: it picks up the four profiles from the storage system, then positions them in the assembly unit and adds the cleats. After pressing together the window/door frame, the assembly unit is rotated by 180° then sends the window/door frame to the third robot which performs the crimping-gluing phase. While the latter phase is being carried out, the assembly phase continues with a new window/door frame on the opposite side of the assembly unit, thus working in concurrent operation time. The work cycle concludes with manual unloading and application of the identification label.
