Characteristics

  • Domain:

    underwater

Description

Made by Ericsson, these submarine fiber optic cables are useful for depths down to 2,000 meters. They are constructed in a loose fiber, uni-tube style. These submarine cables additionally feature joint closures and steel wire armouring, the latter is composed of one of two layers. These cables are tensile force and impact resistant, which makes them ideal for handling, anchoring, and recovery operations. Water blocking as well as elevated mechanical properties are provided by the presence of a stainless steel tube mechanism in these cables.
