The task of a suction line accumulator is to protect the compressor from so called liquid hammers, which can be caused by the carry over of liquid refrigerant.
The consequence of such a liquid hammer will be the damage of the following compressor parts:
• Suction Valve
• Discharge Valves
• Pistons and Connecting Rods
• Gasket
• Bearings

ESK suction line accumulators incorporate the injection principle, which prevents the transport of liquid refrigeration into the compressor, even if the accumulator is filled up with liquid.
