The new KE-D:
An exotic thing or the perfect machine for long parts?

For some people, it seems to be an exotic thing, for some others it is just the perfect solution of machining axes and shafts up to a length of 650 mm: the double trunion rotary transfer machine KNEISSLER KE-D by EUBAMA. Long parts with a diameter from 4 mm up to 40 mm, such as tubes, connecting rods or piston rods, can be machined simultaneously in an economical way on both ends by rotary transfer method and in one clamping.

The highlight of the KE-D is the system with the two clamping trunions which allow safe clamping at the parts' ends. The clamping is effected just there where the machining is done. This will guarantee solidity and high precision. The self-centering clamping will guarantee higher concentricity accuracy, and thus machining operations can be really centered. A further advantage of the self-centering clamping is flexibility when parts' diameters are changing. It is not necessary to change the clamping ring. A range of 5 mm in diameter can be managed without changing the clamping jaws with the CNC-control.

A finger tip is sufficient to changeover from one part to the other when producing part's families. In a few minutes, the KE-D is changed-over to production of axes and shafts with the same machining operation, but with different lengths and different diameters (in the clamping range of up to 5 mm difference). The right-handed unit support can be positioned to the new parts length.

Flexibility is also valid for material feeding. It is possible to feed fully-automatically raw material different in diameter with a special loading magazine.
