The metal ring becomes deformed during tightening offering to the faces
supports a contact metal/metal. The reaction of the joint can be done in three different ways: pressurization, car-actrvation and actrvation by spring. The joints can be covered with a malleable fne layer (plating) the purpose of which is to improve the sealing.
