Chemical pickling line for hot rolled steel strip
Fagor Arrasate S.Coop.
Pickling lines remove any rust and scale from hot-rolled strips. The process is based on conveying the strip through hydrochloric acid baths to dissolve the surface oxides. The pickling process largely depends on the chemical composition of the material, the temperature of the baths, bath agitation, acid concentration and the length of the tanks. The FAGOR engineering department studies each particular case and provides the optimum solution. Fagor offers both continuous systems (joined by welding or stitching ) and push-pull systems. We also supply installations with or without acid regeneration, catenary control in the baths, piping which may be stainless steel, steel or polypropylene tanks, processes based on deep baths, reduced baths or turbulent flow. In the state-of-the-art systems, each bath is equipped with its corresponding nozzles and the tanks are separated by pinch rolls. FAGOR supplies a turnkey system that includes all auxiliary equipment such as steam boilers for heating the acid, rinse tanks, entry and preparation area, exit area with electrostatic oiling, inspection and automatic strapping, chemical control area, heat exchangers, etc. All the lines comply with the most rigorous regulations: EC, OSHA, etc., and there is special safety equipment for preventing accidental acid burns from occurring.
