Description

The coalescer filter is specially designed for the separation of water from hydraulic fluids, diesel and marine diesel oil. No need for expensive special oils, these can be replaced by less expensive pressure fluids. According to VDMA standard sheet 24568 Service-friendly handling According to the VDMA standard sheet 24568, a water content below 1000 ppm (0.1 %) must be maintained for pressure fluids of the HE group. In the HLP group, no free water shouldbe present. Free water always results in turbidity. This is visible to the human eye. Physically, turbidity is a two-phase mixture (emulsion). There are very fine water droplets in the pressurized liquid. For this reason, it is obvious to perform a mechanical separation of the water droplets: This technique is based on the coalescer principle. The fine water droplets are collected in several different layers and combined to form larger units. The resulting droplets leave the coalescer layer and hit a specially hydrophobic fabric. Here the separation from the pressurized liquid takes place. Sedimentation removes the water from the circuit. It is important for the process that a certain differential pressure is not exceeded. For proper operation, the viscosity must be taken into account. Theless emulsifying additives are present in the pressurized liquid, the better the coalescer works. The consequence is: expensive special oils in plants that are frequently threatened by water ingresscan be replaced by simple and inexpensive pressure fluids. With an easy-to-handle measuring device, contamination of hydraulic fluids can be quickly analyzed and measured.
