Once again, FIPA has come up with an innovative product that improves process stability and quality: a small, lightweight, yet powerful gripper with an exclusive grip-detection feature. This smart gripper can actually tell the robot controller whether a part has been gripped or not! As a result, the operator enjoys outstanding reliability even when the space available for maneuvering is limited.
The “Mini” is the smallest gripper currently available from any manufacturer. Its extremely compact design has already proven its ability to reliably handle very small products and sprues, even when the space available for maneuvering is limited. In the ongoing effort to optimize process stability, a grip detection function was desired for the gripper. This was a significant challenge because the Mini's design prevented use of conventional grip detection by way of an actuation strap.
FIPA’s solution is a completely new approach to grip detection that does away with moving parts yet provides the robot controller with reliable detection signals. What hasn’t changed are the proven benefits of the “Mini” gripper: very low weight (just 17 g), high holding force (15 N), and simple gripping even when space is limited.
