Flame arrester elements are also known as flame resistors, flame arresters, grates, flame traps, etc. Under certain conditions a flame arrester element can extinguish a developing flame front. The flame is directed through small capillaries and cooled by contact with their metal surface. Capillary height depends on the requirements (explosion group) that need to be fulfilled and needs to be adapted accordingly.
