Physical layer (PHY) controller
Freescale
Network transceivers are designed to transmit and receive analog or digital signals. Freescale's SMARTMOS technology provides a network transceiver solution by connecting microcontrollers to their system environments. Freescale's solutions can be physical layer network transceivers, as well as more highly integrated devices.
Some of Freescale's network transceiver devices incorporate voltage regulators (SBC - System Basis Chips) and microcontrollers (IDC - Intelligent Distributed Control) along with the physical interface circuitry. The communication protocols supported are CAN (2.0A and 2.0B), LIN, ISO9141, J1850 and the Freescale Distributed System Interface (DSI) for sensors.
