The new 2.5-MW turbine with variable speeds sets benchmarks: due to the possible rotor diameters of 80, 90 and 100 m, it can cater to all locations and wind conditions in the best way possible. Tubular towers of 65, 85 and 100 m as well as lattice towers of up to 160 m form the prerequisite for a very economic efficient and reliable production of wind power. As a reward for the high hub heights, inland locations like woodland can be utilized even more. The innovative conception of the drivetrain – including the large roller bearing, the shaft coupling and the compact gearbox – offers even higher safety and a longer life-time. The same applies to the specially designed hub with its closed operating room. Thanks to the conception of the crane, which makes the replacement of all main components possible without having to use an expensive truck-mounted crane, the mounting and operating costs can be reduced.
