The GSM-1070 manufactured by Funk Electronic Piciorgros GmbH can be used for local or wide area radio networking of all kinds of industrial centres such as Industrial plcs, controllers, sensors and manufacturer of actuators that have a MODBUS interface. The GSM-1070 stores the MODBUS addresses and cellular phone numbers of the remote equipment nodes. As soon as one of these remote MODBUS nodes is polled by the local MODBUS master station, the GSM-1070 dials the cellular phone number corresponding to that remote node. When the GSM connection is made, the GSM-1070 then automatically makes the MODBUS protocol connection between the local MODBUS master and the remote equipment. This on-line connection will exist until another remote MODBUS node is polled, or until a pre-programmed time-out period has elapsed.
