Oil level sight glasses GN 546.1 are mainly used as oil circulation indicators. They are practically indestructible; even if high torque is applied there is no danger of breakage.

By virtue of the high strength of the material (considerably stronger than, for instance, Plexiglass) the oil level glasses can be produced in much thinner walled material which has also led to clearer sight. The ratio between bore Ø and the viewing window is much improved.
