Metal cable carrier

Gortrac standard carriers are manufactured from high strength steel with zinc dichromate plating for 70% better corrosion resistance than standard zinc. Gortrac carriers are also available in various grades of stainless steel. The primary advantages of Gortrac steel carriers are:

- Unsupported Span: Metal carriers offer a longer unsupported span than similar sized plastic carriers. Costlier metal carriers often provide better value than plastic carriers by eliminating the need for support systems.
- Strength: Metal carriers are significantly stronger than similar sized plastic carriers. Gortrac offers several lightweight steel carriers that are extremely cost effective, while providing 8 x more strength than traditional, heavy duty modular plastic carriers.
- Temperature resistance: Stainless Steel carriers are ideal for applications with ambient temperatures exceeding the 392 F short term limit of glass reinforced nylon carriers.

Plastic Carriers

Although there are many factors that can be considered, the primary advantages of plastic carriers are:
- Cost: As a general rule, plastic cable/hose carriers are less expensive than similar sized metal carriers
- Weight: Plastic carriers are lighter than similar sized steel carriers
- High Velocity/Acceleration: Plastic carriers are lighter and quieter, providing smooth, reliable operation in applications with the most extreme velocity and acceleration requirements.
- Long Travels: Although metal carriers invariably offer longer unsupported spans than plastic carriers, in long travel applications where support is required, plastic carriers can offer innovative features and accessories such as guide troughs modular sliders, and MarathonT Roller Sets, that provide cost effective advantages.
- Environment: Nylatrac/Nylatube carriers are available in a wide variety of polymers for use in demanding environmental requirements, such as explosion proof, clean room, increased UL, chemical resistance, etc.
