Flat wafers and industrial cones can be optically inspected and evaluated for a variety of quality-related characteristics.
Flat wafers are checked for broken corners and rims, holes, transparency (dough and baking quality) and for enclosures. In the case of industrial cones, the following test characteristics are tested for: overlapping rims, length and breadth, rounded peak, size of hole at the top, colour and brightness of the surface.
Components of inferior quality are removed via turnout sluices or are blown out using compressed air.
