Description

The range of tools includes chamfering tools for bore diameters from 2.0 mm to 35.0 mm. Using cassettes, bore diameters of any size can be chamfered. Depending on the type of blade, the chamfer size ranges from 0.2 mm to 1.5 mm. The chamfer size and angle are geometrically defined on the SNAP blade and can only be changed by using a blade with a different geometry. Construction The SNAP tool family consists of 3 types, which differ based on their dimensions. We offer the SNAP 2 – 4, the SNAP 5 – 20 and the cassette tools. The larger chamfering tools are designed in one piece. The smaller ones are made up of a tool body and blade housing. The simple construction together with the fully mechanical process steps description guarantee reliable function during chamfering. The specially ground blades of the SNAP chamfering tool are available as a forward and backward cutting variant or backward cutting only. The movement of this chamfering blade is maintained by a control bolt with a spring in the tool body. The blades are replaced manually and this can therefore be performed directly on the machine. Process steps description The desired chamfer is created on the front edge of the bore in working feed and working speed. Upon reaching the chamfering depth, which is defined by the blade geometry, the blade retracts radially into the tool body. Next, the tool will rapidly traverse through the bore without stopping the spindle. A specially designed sliding section on the blade prevents damage to the surface of the bore – even with reamed bores. When exiting the bore, the spring-loaded blade returns to its neutral position.
