Principle of operation
With the VME CL und VME CLC cyclone classifiers, the feed product and the classifying air are fed tangentially to the top of the housing and are then transported centripetally in a spiral path to the classifying wheel, where classification takes place. Entrained in the classifying air, the fines pass through the classifying wheel and are routed to the downstream fines collection unit. The coarse material rejected by the classifying wheel sediments together with fine material in strands on the housing wall and gravitates downwards.
Secondary air is supplied at the bottom of the cyclone classifier housing which serves to disperse agglomerates and ensures repeated transport of the feed product to the classifying wheel. In this way, any fine particles still present in the coarse material are extracted and added to the fines.
